One of the organizations that the Shepherd’s Bible College has a great relationship with is New Tribes Mission. New Tribes Mission is a world-wide organization devoted to training, sending and supporting missionaries around the world. In New Zealand the Shepherd’s Bible College has a two way relationship with New Tribes Mission.
On the one hand, if someone wants to be a missionary with New Tribes, they need to go through missionary training. In a number of other countries New Tribes have their own training institutions to train missionaries, but here in New Zealand, New Tribes Missionaries are encouraged to come to the Shepherd’s Bible College for their training. For New Tribes, they want to see the heart of their missionaries transformed, so that they are faithful to walk according to the Word of God.
On the other hand, New Tribes also benefit from the Shepherd’s Bible College students who go on to become missionaries. Recent examples include Naomi, and Stephanie. Stephanie discovered missions while studying at TSBC and is now serving full time with NTM in Papua New Guinea (you can read Stephanie’s testimony here).
In addition, we also have Simon Pyatt as an adjunct faculty member. Simon also serves with NTM, and in addition to lecturing is involved in translating commentaries and biblical resources into the language of the people group he serves in the Asia-Pacific region. This means that students who are interested in missions have someone with years of experience behind them to talk to if they want more information.
The Shepherd’s Bible College is ultimately focused on training the church, not only in New Zealand but around our region and further afield through missions.
